Breanna's First Two Days

We spent Breanna's first two days at Longview Regional and everyone was great!  We had the best nurses!  Breanna was running a mild fever when she was born so we stayed 48 hours so they could give her antibiotics and monitor her to make sure everything was okay...luckily it was just something she worked up during the delivery and nothing more!  Our large room with the two beds was so nice for our extended stay, Bert had a bed to sleep and we had room to spread out, really made our stay even more enjoyable.
Bert and I were so excited to finally meet Breanna!  We couldn't wait to see her sweet face, find out how much she would weigh, if she would have hair, etc.  We thought she would be cute and that we would instantly be wrapped around her finger but when we finally met her that was an understatement!

She is just precious and we just think she's gorgeous (again not partial or anything)!  Everyone, including one of our favorite nursery nurses, Sandy just kept on about all of her hair. She has a bunch of hair and it's very long and dark.  (Probably close to my natural hair color, although it's been a long time since I've seen it).  Her cheeks are so plump but the rest of her body is long and lean...not like her momma, I was quite a chubby baby.

DeDe and Mike

DeDe holding our sweet baby girl just before having to leave to go back to Arkansas.

Mike wasn't sure he was going to hold her because she was so small but I told him we needed to get a picture, so he did and here's the proof!

Lindsey Simpson stopped by to meet Breanna and brought us these beautiful flowers!  So glad she was able to come by and hold Bre!

Here's a picture of her poor little hand they were giving her the antibiotics through...all three of us were glad to see it off before we left on Friday night!  (The good thing was that it really didn't seem to bother her too much).

So peaceful!

A little bonding time in the rocking chair...I could hold her forever and just love looking at her sweet face!

Mom & Breanna...
Mom and I have always been super close but now having my own daughter, I feel even closer to her.  I am so looking forward to having that special connection with Breanna!
Mom is trying to decide between GG or PJ as her grandma name...not sure which it's going to be yet.  She's been thinking GG but just decided she may want to go with PJ...either is fine with me!

Finally around 5pm on Friday, we were cleared to go home, so we started getting Breanna dressed for the trip!  We were very excited (and a little nervous) to take her home!

She was a really good sport while we were getting her dressed!  She even posed for some pictures!

Love this picture of her & sweet!

Just waiting on my discharge papers...

Got them!  Now we just had to get her in the car seat and we were on our way!

Here we go!  More pictures of coming home...coming soon!

Breanna's Birth Day!

After 38 weeks of waiting, the wait was finally over because Breanna was on the way!  We were so excited to be meeting our daughter later that day! Breanna's birthday is on a very special day, PaPa's 91st Birthday!Bert and I got to the hospital early that morning a little before 6:30am to get everything started.

Inspired by Kristi, I had made my hospital gown for this special day.  Dr. Tibiletti said he thought I should start mass producing them and selling them to the hospital.  Not sure there will be time for that...

I got my epidural at 9am and was so relieved that it was not the horrible experience I had imagined.  I felt such a weight lifted off me at that point.  I felt very lucky, my whole experience was a good one, from the labor, to the nurses, to the entire hospital stay!

Mom & Jim waiting for her arrival

My first nurse was Laura.  She was great!  I was very nervous when we first got to the hospital but she definitely made me feel more comfortable.  Her shift ended at 6pm so she missed Breanna's arrival but she did make sure and request a large room with two beds for us to move into afterwards.  We were so grateful because Breanna was running a mild fever after she was born and we ended up staying 48 hours, so the extra bed and large room was great!

Bert & DeDe

Here we are later in the afternoon

At shift change, I got two nurses, Catlin & Jelaine and they were awesome!  I was actually the only delivery of the day (very unusual they told me) but worked out great for Breanna & I becuase we got extra special treatment!  By the time shift change came around, I was getting close to pushing.

Breanna made her debut at 7:58pm!  She weighed 8 lbs 1 oz and measured 21.25" long.  I was pleasantly surprised that she was smaller than Bert and I were as babies.  Dr. Tibiletti got a kick out of Mom commenting that she ONLY weighed 8 lbs 1 oz....he wasn't used to that weight being referred to as a smaller baby.

Proud DeDe

Here's our healthy baby girl!  She's just perfect, not that we're partial or anything!  Everyone kept commenting on how much hair she had and how long it was while I was pushing, so I was so excited to finally see her.  Mom had told me I had quite a bit of black hair as a baby but not as much as Breanna...she has a ton of hair!

I was so glad that I could see the warmer from the bed.  I know she couldn't see me but she was directly to my right and looking towards me.

Proud Daddy!

Bert and Bre with Dr. Tibiletti

Bert and I both love Dr. Tibiletti.  He is just hilarious and he was very encouraging throughout the delivery!

Our first family photo with our sweet baby girl!  Bert and I were instantly so in love!  Such a miracle and blessing from God!

Benton Shower

Started this post earlier this week but wasn't able to finish the post before Breanna made her debut!  We had a great shower to help get ready for her arrival!
The cake was darling and delicious too!  The top layer was strawberry...yum!

Jenn hosted the shower at her house.

Abby & Josie (Breanna's first cousins)  I remember when they were born...times goes by so quick!
Randi (my cousin Brittney's youngest) & Landon made it too
